1890 Williams House Inn, Hot Springs
Our amazing bed and breakfast in Hot Springs on our most recent road-trip proved to be quite something my dears!!! My friend Kat had given us the recommendation and I am so glad she did!
A historic pet-friendly gem, 1890 Williams House Inn sits on the corner of Quapaw Avenue nestled in the Ouachita Mountains... just minutes from the legendary Bathhouse Row and is an ideal spot for anyone looking for a bit of relaxing downtime - i.e. ME! It's also perfect for the couple looking for some romance.- i.e. US!!
It has the victorian flair with modern conveniences that reflects the quiet elegance of another era. I really envisioned I was Marie Antoinette my whole stay. All of the gorgeous floral wallpaper reminded me of Versailles. If only we had brought the car vs the motorcycle...would have loved to have some elegant dresses and all my pretties with me. (Anyone else remember this scene below?! )

We arrived late afternoon on a Wednesday to be greeted by our most fabulous host Julie. I have never encountered a host with a more gracious, helpful and enthusiastic love for their job. Julie being a Hot Springs native has such a knowledge of the town and all the great things to experience there. Loved touring the breath-taking property with her too. ( I mean so many details as you can see in my photography) She knows so much about the house. She really just made our stay and I am so happy to have connected with her.
We checked in and were given the skeleton key (love places that still use keys) and headed to our cozy quarters for the evening, Our room - The infamous Parlor Suite - was one of the properties 'Indulgent' rooms, bigger than some of the places I've lived in actually. It came complete with a gorgeous sitting room with an elaborate mantel and electric fireplace, a pillared jet tub for two in the bedroom, and tall windows overlooking the front lawn and veranda. I adored the perfect table for two where an intimate full breakfast was served to us in the privacy of the Parlor Suite. We had our breakfast served to us there the first morning but then the second morning we decided to be social and join everyone for breakfast in the main dining area.
And my dears....that breakfast will haunt me in my dreams forever in the best way. Julie's husband is a wonderful chef. The first morning we enjoyed fresh fruit and the best sausage omelet I have ever tasted. The coffee is delicious there too and you all know I am a coffee snob. We couldn't get enough of the fresh orange juice which awaits you on the table - seriously, and I am not even a OJ kinda girl unless there is champagne involved but this juice made me a believer. HA! The second morning we indulged ourselves in conversations with other travelers and French toast. One couple we met was celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary in from New Orleans and they were just the sweetest pair. I asked them their secret to a long happy marriage and they responded....."TRAVEL...see the world with the one you love as it keeps things exciting." And I just love that advice.
Don't forget to take full advantage of the complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, tea, spring water and the cookie jar anytime you want! We made an afternoon of all that one day!
It was so much fun exploring this charming quaint house and learning about it's history. Upstairs there is a collection of videos and books that you are welcome to use. Highly recommend a lazy afternoon, reading on one of the verandas relaxing in an atmosphere you just can’t get at a hotel. 1890 Williams House Inn reflects the quiet elegance of an earlier time. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the house is masterfully constructed and this historic-district jewel showcases beautiful woodwork, stained glass and architectural detail.
Dr. A.U. Williams, a prominent physician and businessman built this exquisite Arkansas estate, where four generations of his family lived. In fact, 1890 Williams House Inn was the first bed and breakfast in the state of Arkansas, established in 1980. The Main House has 6,500 sq. feet of elegance & charm with six extra large guest rooms and the Carriage House has 2,000 sq ft and three extra large guest rooms.
And P.S..the beds are soooo comfortable. We slept so well.
