Cinco De Mayo Fiesta//What To Wear with Cheap Thrills Vintage

Everyone is sharing festival fashion so I wanted to share a little fiesta fashion on Go French Yourself today. I realize it's not even Easter but with the way time is flying, Cinco De Mayo  will be here before we know it. Plus I think we should make Fiesta Fashion a thing, you know?! I feel like I would and do wear it all the time...minus the ponchos and the sombreros. Not that there is anything wrong with those..but I prefer a more subtler nod to the Mexican culture. Celebrating Cinco de Mayo isn't just about the queso and tequila; (or maybe it is..who am I kidding) but it's embracing the holiday's bold colors and festive style.

So you have been invited a little Cinco De Mayo Fiesta??! Ohhh lucky señorita!! Don't even fret because I got you!

Keep things modern and fun and think fun fringe, bohemian prints, and Mexican-inspired embroidery. Think outside the box and buy something you can get multiple use out of ! I mean you can wear an floral embroidered flowy dress ALL summer long. The perfect outfit will definitely get you in the mood to fiesta with friends. You might even dance to some mariachi music!

I recommend shopping at your local vintage resale shop. You are sure to find something special and it won't break the bank. I was so happy to partner with Cheap Thrills Vintage in Tulsa Oklahoma where I live. They always have such a great selection and I always find those unique one-of-a-kind pieces that make my heart go pitter patter. I have a thing for Vintage ...it's true. There is a bit of everything there for both women and men. You can find clothing, accessories, shoes, albums, and various other vintage items. And they are constantly getting new things daily!

So local loves, I am thrilled to share the pieces with you that I think would be muy calienté for your fiestas! I also adore each one of these because I feel like you can recycle it and where it another time in your life! I will be sharing some ways that you can style them during the fiesta and after the fiesta.

The Vintage Mexican Wedding Dress

(This lovely gem is pictured on my BFF Katie in the opening photos btw) This lace number makes us want to run for the field of flowers. The lace and layering in this piece is just exquisite when you see it in person. It's incredibly romantic and ethereal. And the fact that it's been passed down is just so dreamy to me. I wish it could tell everyone about the personal inspiration that went into making it and all of the unique places it has gone. It has a very Frida Kahlo aesthetic to me and this piece was made for some movement. It could be the perfect wedding dress as Katie has it style with some fabulous blue heels for a "Something borrowed, Something Blue' . And for Cinco De Mayo I can easily see this worn to the fiesta with some bright sandals and a flower crown. I can also see this going to some music festival or concert at Cains with an oversized black hat and some amazing Pamela Love jewelry and black moto boots with an amazing backpack. (will link some things too for ya) And seriously someone get to Cheap Thrills now and snag this dress!

50's Metallic Circle skirt Two Piece Set

This gorgeous set speaks for itself and is absolutely begging you to take it for a spin at your Cinco De Mayo Fiesta. A great full circle skirt can be perfect for so many occasions and this mixed metal metallic hue has a really modern glam look and feel which I adore. For your fiesta I would pair this with some great festive flats and you can toss a flower in your hair. The skirt would then be amazing on a chilly brisk night with a lightweight turtleneck and some heels and a fun uptini. The top would look fabulous with a pair of skinny jeans and some open toe booties. I love it layered with some great skinny necklaces too. This whole look would also be perfect for an evening wedding. There is so much you can do with this!

Cheap Thrills has this set available now and they also have some other really fabulous festive circle skirts that will be perfect for your fiestas. We didn't have time to get everything photographed but I assure you they are stunning!!!

Doesn't Brittany look amazing?!

FESTIVE VINTAGE TOP

You cannot go wrong with a simple cotton top with some metallic embroidery. This one from Cheap Thrills looks great tucked into one of the circle skirts she has or you can opt for more of a casual vibe and pair it with some skinny denim . I think this top would look great with some shorts too with a great fringe crossbody bag.

Amanda is the cutest!

Mexican peasant dress

And of course you cannot forget the classic vintage Mexican peasant dresses in their amazing bright colors. I love their traditional handmade embroidery and these are the perfect Cinco De Mayo gems! They have such a bohemian vibe and honestly these can be worn everyday. They are perfect for the beach and any summer BBQ. Cheap Thrills has them in so many various colors right now too. I just used them on a Cinco De Mayo shoot for the blog so you are going to be getting a few sneak peaks in the pics below. So appreciative for Cheap Thrills sponsoring their fabulous threads for the post! (That will launch later on this month so be on the look out. It's packed with everything you need to throw your own Cinco De Mayo fiesta including 4 easy recipes and a DIY tutorial for a tissue paper flower backdrop)

Every gal needs one of these in her closet...end of story!

(I linked my fave shoes with these dresses for you too)

MILAGRO NECKLACE

Milagros (also known as an ex-voto or dijes or promesas) are religious folk charms that are traditionally used for healing purposes and as votive offerings in Mexico, the southern United States, other areas of Latin America, and parts of the Iberian peninsula. They are frequently attached to altars, shrines, and sacred objects found in places of worship, and they are often purchased in churches and cathedrals, or from street vendors. Milagros come in a variety of shapes and dimensions and are fabricated from many different materials, depending on local customs. For example, they might be nearly flat or fully three-dimensional; and they can be constructed from gold, silver, tin, lead, wood, bone, or wax. In Spanish, the word milagro literally means miracle or surprise. (That's from Wikipedia)

Loving this one at Cheap Thrills. I almost kept it for myself!

So local loves, there are just no excuses to not get in that festive spirit for your upcoming parties! Don't walk but run to Cheap Thrills...
