Creating Meals With Vermicular

Japanese thoughtfulness meets modern innovation.

I have been cooking up a storm all week, partially because the new season has me craving all of my favorite fall dishes but also because I received the most beautiful Musui from Vermicular. I am 100 percent in love with this Japanese cookware. And the two recipes I have made so far with their recipe book have been spot on!! They were so easy to create and so so delicious!!!

A Perfect Seal

The Musui’s body and lid are meticulously machined to .01 mm accuracy creating our signature precision seal. Instead of using water, excess seasoning or sauces, this seal helps maximize an ingredient’s flavor in! The Musui’s accuracy begins at casting. At 2700°F, our proprietary mix of vermicular graphite iron and 13 other metals are melted and poured into sand molds. After the molds are cooled and the pots released, the body and lid of the Musui are meticulously hand-machined until they fit at a .01 mm accuracy. This accuracy empowers 'waterless' cooking—from which the Musui takes its name.

  • Triple Thermal Heating

  • Floating Lid

  • Self-Basting Rings

  • Double Handle Control

The final step in manufacturing, the Musui is evenly coated three times with enamel. This step has two important attributes that are unique to Vermicular—it helps distribute heat and cook ingredients from their core, while the proprietary glass coating helps ensure durability so the Musui can be passed down for generations to come. With the safety of their employees and you as their utmost concern, they never use any toxic materials, like cadmium, to coat their products with.

Heat Conduction - The Musui is able to distribute and retain heat remarkably well, allowing ingredients to sear beautifully while the bottom ring-shaped ribs ensure ingredients are not overcooked.

The Musui’s lid is imbued with more purpose than impeccable sealing. It is built to be lighter at the front so when pressure builds within the pot, the lid gently floats to vent steam instead of boiling over.

Wait, there’s more. The Musui’s lid also helps self-baste ingredients in their own delectable juices. When steam rises and condenses during cooking, the lid’s double rings and soft spikes allow it to gently precipitate down, enveloping the dish in flavor. The ring-shaped ribs on the bottom of the Musui serve an important, dual purpose. They create an ideal distance between ingredients and stove, ensuring ingredients are not overheated. Plus, they guarantee that heat is evenly distributed, assuring each part of the ingredient is cooked, flawlessly.

Safe and secure handling is paramount to the Musui’s design. Double handles on each side of the pot allow you to hold the lid with both hands. It’s also designed ergonomically correct, allowing it to be cookware that is never cumbersome in the kitchen—making it easy to to maneuver for everyday use.

It comes in three different colors too!!

Poised table protection

The Magnetic Trivet makes your dish presentation-ready while protecting your table from the exceptional heat retention of the Musui. The trivet is made of natural wood and is handcrafted in the same cast iron foundry as their cookware. It’s even more beautiful in person.
