Escaping To Carlton Landing/ The Verana House Staycation

A STAYCATION on Oklahoma’s scenic Lake Eufaula...

Fancy a weekend stay at a beautiful vacation rental home in a coastal inspired lakeside gem that is nestled in the town of Carlton Landing at Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma?!! You don't have to ask me twice! Carlton Landing is such a lovely escape destination and so close to us here in Tulsa my dears.

As I mentioned before, Carlton Landing is the most picturesque little place. From the moment you arrive in the heart of the little town, your camera is ready and your eyes dart from quaint corners and pretty streets and the most beautiful homes--plus you are greeted by the cutest animals! I loved taking the time to just explore on foot along all of the streets just wandering around, getting lost and uncovering every little nook. You seriously cannot turn a corner without something catching your eye. It's just so incredibly charming and I cannot get enough.

A few weeks ago, I partnered with Carlton Landing to do just that and spend a lovely two nights on the property at The Verana. There was nothing much planned on our agenda except for a little bit of food, plenty of romance, and a lot of relaxation, which the two of us really needed. Lin and I have had such a busy summer working. So this little weekend away came at such a perfect time!

The Verana is a very comfy, very welcoming vacation rental cottage--designed and styled in a way to make you feel instantly at home.

It's truly so beautiful!!  Light positively flows into the rooms, bouncing off the floorboards and walls giving the most magical bright and airy feel.

The first floor has a bright open floor plan where you can gather at the large kitchen island and breakfast bar. Enjoy eating on the family sized vintage dining table or lounge in the living room playing games or watching a movie. There is a conveniently located half bath just off the kitchen. The first floor luxurious master suite has a bright, dreamy king size bed with large master bathroom and white barn style door. The master is equipped with its own HDTV to allow the comforts of your own home but the luxury feel of of a resort vacation home.Because let's be honest, is there anything more satisfying than starfishing in a bed so big that your fingers and toes don't reach the corners?

I don't think so!

As you travel up the stairs, you make it to the second floor landing with another gathering area complete with a couch that also doubles as a twin bed and sleeping area. This area is equipped with an HDTV and DVD/BlueRay player. The first bedroom is a bright nautical themed bedroom furnished with a king sized bed and sitting area. This room has a beautiful view of the park. The third bedroom of this home is a costal inspired bedroom that has a comfortable queen size bed. These bedrooms share a bathroom with marble counter top, double vanity sinks and a large tub/shower. From the second floor landing, you will also see a large custom step ladder to give you safe access to every child’s dream style loft with five custom built in twin beds. This may be your child’s favorite space!

We loved the upstairs balcony and the gorgeous porch swing-all though it was really hot and humid while we were there! Staying indoors in the AC was a better option in the midst of an Oklahoma summer in August.

Within walking distance, you have access to Bocci Ball park, the community pool, and the dock at lakeside where you have full use of the paddle boards, life vests, and kayaks within the beautiful cove.

Carlton Landing is all about a slower pace of life. It's so nice to just slow down! I chilled out, rested and relaxed whilst getting some much needed Vitamin D. I even managed to finish the last three chapters of a book I have literally had since January. Catching up on Shameless was nice too with zero interruptions!  We didn't even grill or cook while there. (I partially regret it just because The Verana's kitchen is so lovely and it would have been so perfect to utilize it) We picked up some pre prepared meals from Evolve Paleo and enjoyed the pizza place that Carlton Landing has-Mama Tig's Pizza. It's quite delish and the peach beer isn't so bad either. HA! They had a live bluegrass band playing on Saturday night too so we were wildly entertained. There are tow food trucks too but they were closed during our visit.

Carlton Landing's hospitality team is so amazing though! They offer so many amenities we did not take advantage of but I want to give you an idea of what they can do! A personal shopper can have your home stocked with groceries before you arrive. And while there you can schedule time to exercise with a few experts they have living there! You can also schedule a massage. And there is church service on Sundays. There are always community events where you can enjoy community pot luck dinners or evenings with guest chefs and tons of events for children like movie nights! There are even pop up shops on Saturday mornings!

Take advantage of the community garden too where you can get fresh herbs to cook with!

And everyone is so nice!! The community is so friendly. When I am there next, a lovely community member wants to even host a pot luck for me to get to meet other people and connect! So I really hope to do a girls retreat this fall with some girlfriends where we can take advantage of more of the outdoor things available! Would love to sit around the fire pit telling stories with wine and cozy blankets!

The Verana House is not pet friendly but they do have pet friendly properties if you want to travel with Fido!

Got you planning a weekend retreat?
