Espadrille Love Affair
I have been on a summer shoe shopping binge as of late. If you had looked in my closet, you would find A. Shoes I work out in. B. Platform heels C. Incredibly high wedges.....oh and some luxe house slippers. None of this is perfect for a casual backyard BBQ or poolside party. I mean I do own a few pairs of gladiator sandals but these are still not great for that summer concert or walking for hours in new cities exploring. I just don't find them to be very comfortable for longer periods of time and after recently getting glass in my foot at a show wearing my sandals...well.....you guys...I think I am officially an adult.
Miz Mooz couldn't have reached out at a better time. They are transforming my shoe closet with simple chic wearable styles. I mean Miz Mooz was started in a New York City basement. Thankfully they have moved up a few floors since those early days in 2001, but they are still proud to call NYC home. After a few seasons as an exclusive brand for a small chain of NYC stores, they found themselves fielding calls from independent retailers eager to stock Miz Mooz in their own boutiques. Big time city women understand that comfort and a stylish shoe is key...with comfort being first. I mean..ever been to NYC? You walk a lot. But women remain fabulous in flats.
I had the CELESTINE shipped from Miz Mooz. This gorgeous flat combines the refined look of colorful leather with the laid-back signatures of a classic espadrille for the perfect warm weather slip on. These beauties literally come in 7 different shades so it was such a hard choice but I went with the yellow. I wanted to incorporate a fun pop of color into the closet giving my neutrals some life. When ordering, go up one size on these!
Not necessarily a new sartorial piece, but one that is such a classic is an espadrille. And I am a now a firm believer that if your closet is lacking a pair.... it’s time to remedy this. They are the quintessential summer shoe and come in a number of different styles. From suede and denim to leather and lace, they can be styled with anything from shorts, dresses, cropped jeans...even maxi dresses. Espadrilles have a history that goes back farther than you may think. It’s estimated that espadrilles–which are made out of rope and fabric–are around 4000 years old! See....such a classic. In my opinion, the trend has stuck around for thousands of years because the soles of the shoes are so comfy (they basically mold to your foot). The lightweight fabric also allows your feet to breathe in warm weather, which makes them perfect staples for summer. These are also going to be the perfect shoe for me in Barcelona.
Linking some other summer favorites from Miz Mooz below! They seriously have the greatest selection and price points!
What is your go to summer shoes right now??!!!!
