Get The Story of Your Body And Take Control Of Your Health With Nokia

Focusing on health is a common theme for 2018 for my friends and me and I am so glad that we all realize health is so much more than just a number on a scale or the number of calories on a plate. 2018 is all about paying close attention to those daily routines, taking care of our bodies, and knowing ourselves----and certainly not playing the comparison game. Health and wellness looks different for everyone.

I personally have a love/hate relationship with working out. Sometimes I get into a great groove where I’m consistent with my weekly workouts and look forward to them at the beginning or end of each day. But then other times, my dang schedule gets so busy that the thought of working out (or even the drive for it) just doesn’t come, and I go days without doing anything. I think to myself “I just don’t have time”, but the truth is that some of the busiest people still make time for it, so I know that I can, too. It's so important.

I’ve never done a workout and thought afterwards, “I wish I didn’t do that”. It’s my favorite way to start my day and can completely turn around a bad mood I’m in. It often triggers my writer's block too and gets my mind moving.  I can feel my body craving a good workout, especially after I've been traveling and eating not so great.

I wanted a heart rate and activity tracking watch that A...tracked my exercise, heart rate, and sleep. And B..it had to be a gorgeous fashion piece as well as a piece of tech equipment.  I loved the look of Nokia's  new wearable device and saw that Nokia's new collection of smart health products were getting a ton of great press and reviews.

So I tried it! And I am so in love with it!

Madly madly madly in love with it.

The Design is so fabulously perfect. It has a classic watch-like design and nobody knows that it is an activity tracker. My boyfriend even fussed at me because he thought I bought a new watch. I also personally love the slimmer size so it is not overpowering on my wrist. Plus the slimmer size is so much more comfortable to wear. There is one button to interact with the device too and it's disguised as a crown. The Steel HR is the most watch-like activity tracker I have actually seen.  It is just so attractive and has a premium design that other devices have been missing.

The strap choices for the Steel HR are durable and feel comfortable on your wrist. I used a silicon one, which doesn't get dirty when I am out and about and is easy enough to clean off when I get it all sweaty during a workout. I kept the standard black version of the strap, but you can also pick up white, red, purple, navy, blue and grey silicone straps for the 36mm while the 40mm is available with either blue or red. I later ended up purchasing the grey one too just to switch things up from time to time!

There is also a leather option for both watches in black while the 36mm version also comes with a brown alternative. If you prefer a woven look, you can also buy straps for the 36mm watch in blue, orange or yellow with prices starting at $39.95.

On the right hand side of the watch display you'll find the only button. It looks like a crown, but won’t spin and just works as a button to cycle through the menus on your wearable to see each of your stats. When first using this device we did find it quite strange to not be able to turn this button, but once you get used to tapping it you'll find it a simple way to see your results throughout the day. Pressing it once will wake the small screen at the top of the watch face to show the time and with each subsequent press it will show heart rate, steps, distance, alarms and battery life, in that order.

Just above the six o’clock on the watch face sits the percentage calculator. This will go up the more steps you take in a day. If you set your target to 12,000 steps, it will show 50% done when you’ve reached 6,000. This is a simple to use interface and you can switch your target within the app with ease, so you’re not restricted to just one goal.

Despite having both a digital screen and a percentage monitor, the time is easy to read on the Steel HR. There's no second hand here, but you have a minute and hour hand to keep track of the time and that's one of the most important things for most people buying something like this.

My new Nokia Steel HR is keeping me motivated enough to take the time each week to break a sweat my dears! And I love the following features best of all after now have been using it solid for one week.

  • I love how it works with the free Health Mate app. This app is amazing!! Health Mate lets me view a complete history of my health data, including activity, sleep, weight, and more, so I can see trends, track progress, and improve over time. Whether you're looking to lose weight, get more active, monitor blood pressure, or even sleep better, Health Mate is there to coach you every step of the way. It is like my own personal trainer.

  • It has smart assistant capabilities so I can receive text messages, calls, and event notifications on the digital screen.

  • It's water resistant so I can wash my hands, shower, and so on without having to take the thing off.

  • I love the alarm. I can now not be so attached to my phone which I usually use as my morning alarm. So now my phone stays in the living room and not in the bedroom.

  • And the battery life on my device is incredible!!! It can last up to 25 days on one single charge. This is actually the best part ever for me!!!

  • And overall wellness is critical. I love that my device is helping me understand my sleep patterns, my heart rate, blood pressure and keeping me active.
