Story Planter From Design Within Reach- “We simply want to create things people won’t get rid of,” says Chen-Yen Wei of the objects that she designs with her husband and partner, Hung-Ming Chen. In creating the Story Planter (2020), the pair brought a new twist to floral arrangements by accommodating plants and flowers in a vertical stack within a very compact footprint. “It was not an easy task, though it appears really simple,” says Hung-Ming of the design. “We hope people see it as a quiet, functional sculpture.” All-metal construction and a heavy weighted base provide strength and stability. Bowls can be set facing forward or to the side; they do not have drainage holes. Indoor use only. Made in Taiwan. I created an indoor herb garden with mine!

Cold Picnic was formed in 2010 by partners Phoebe Sung and Peter Buer, both of whom have backgrounds in fine arts and worked in corporate fashion design - Sung as an apparel designer and Buer as a print designer.
