Movie Nights In With Pop On The Block- Fun Date Night Idea
The quarantine has been super challenging on many levels, particularly on our personal relationships. I mean really…. I am just going to say what we are all thinking!!! LOL. The overwhelming amount of togetherness, (so jealous of those couples living a huge house and now see the appeal of one) mixed with cabin fever and frazzled overworked nerves is not exactly an ideal recipe for romance. Yet, keeping a genuine, joyful connection with our significant other is more important than ever! Fancy dinners out and lovely vacations are always a good time to connect but now that couples are together constantly and can't really do these things (for those of us being safe) going on a date seems improbable. Lin and I are definitely missing the cinema as we are huge movie lovers, especially this time of year. But movie studios are scrambling to shift large chunks of their film release slates in response to the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent cinema closures and even for those movies that have made it back into the BIG screens-well we do not feel comfortable being in a theatre right now! I feel like we have watched EVERY series on demand and are currently struggling with new things to watch! So lately we have been re-watching movies and it’s actually been very fun. There have been some great classics. We even fell down a rabbit hole a few months ago watching every John Grisham movie ever made! I had no idea I loved legal thrillers sooo much. And Lin did not even realize Julia Roberts had made so many movies when we rewatched Erin Brockovich. So then we watched Runaway Bride because he had never seen it!!
So this sparked a fun idea…………
INTRODUCING OUR Fall/ Winter MOVIE JAR
So we are devoting movie nights to an actor or actress we pull out of the jar! Each time we will embrace an older movie or maybe an older new-to-us movie that the chosen actor or actress plays in! (or maybe it’s brand new-just released)
For our jar, we put all our favorites in so we ended up with a huge variety. Lin created his. I created mine. Then once we draw a name…let’s say Ethan Hawke (my lord..I love a young Ethan Hawke so much ) is drawn , then we do a search on apple tv of his name and all of the movies he ever played in pop up and we pick one together as a couple!!!! So we still can talk and decide as a pair but we at least have a starting point!
If you need some extra move watching in your life, I highly recommend making your own movie jar!
And do not forget the popcorn!! No movie night is complete without popcorn and Pop on the Block can be delivered straight to your door from Rhode Island.
They use high-quality, non-GMO, and Kosher ingredients at their gourmet popcorn store. With these ingredients, they’ve created over twenty delicious popcorn flavors to choose from. In addition to their various flavors, they offer bundled party favors and assorted gifts and baskets for popcorn and novelty chocolate lovers!!
A personal faves of Lin’s is Almost Naked! It has just a hint of sea salt and is perfect for anyone who loves popcorn but doesn’t want a “flavor”. I love the Dill Pickle popcorn! It's crisp, a little tart, super refreshing! And no, I am not pregnant! I also cannot get enough of the Maple and the Toffee. Lin also loved the Hot Jalapeno!
You just have to see all the flavors for yourself.
