My Favorite Woman-Owned Small Businesses// Lilly + Oak
Today is Small Business Saturday, an opportunity to join in and support the small businesses in your neighborhood and across the country by shopping small!!! And I do not know about you but I feel very blessed to be alive during a time when many of my favorite small businesses are owned by women. So many amazing boss babes are pushing boundaries and showing just how strong and successful women can be. As a person who has had my own small business I can tell you that it’s not easy to go out on your own and start something from scratch. It’s a huge risk but if you have a network of likeminded women who can support you, advise you, and grow alongside you, that makes all the difference. I’m proud to say that I have a network like this of my own: We attend each other’s events, shop for each other’s products, show each other some love on social media, and support each other in any way we can.
With all of this in mind today, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite woman-owned small businesses. Lilly + Oak was one of my very first collabs here on Go French Yourself. You can find my interview with Kara from Lilly + Oak here from 2016.
A lot has changed with Kara as she has now moved to Austin from Dallas where she carefully constructs every leather piece from her home studio!
She has also added many new designs to her inventory including the Lilly + Oak Canvas Tote which is a favorite of mine. This tote is the perfect travel companion. It’s created using durable, eco-friendly canvas and bronze leather straps. And I adore the versatility! There are two ways to style this: with the top handles or using the detachable shoulder strap (all made from Texas sourced leather.) It’s such a great size. I have even been using it at my local farmers market for fresh flowers and honey and herbs because it is just so pretty and I love a goof crossbody!
And then there are many Lilly + Oak classic pieces that Kara does that she will always do like the Julian Clutch.These clutches are perfectly sized for your everyday essentials! They are made of softly pebbled natural leather and I love this because it just gets better and better with age! And mine features a gold color dip but there are so many different styles to chose from. I have my eye on this hand painted beauty next! I love how they are not bulky and can fit in my smaller handbags!
