Why should kids have all the fun? I have the best milkshake in store for you with a touch or more of booze in the mix for grown-up summer sipping!! Ice cream and booze are really having a moment right now and I wanted to get in on the action.

I truly cannot believe it's mid August----all though I am ready to welcome autumn sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes, football, and delicious fall veggies into my life again! But to keep these summer celebrations going in full force, I plan to enjoy as many of these Bananas Foster Boozy Milkshakes as my heart desires. Yes, Bananas Foster ...you read that right. I mean how can you go wrong with vanilla ice cream, caramel, whipped cream, cinnamon, and Bacardi Superior Rum. The Bacardi Banana Flavored Rum also adds a really nice pinch of WHOA to this recipe.

Don't you just instantly transport to New Orleans??!  I sure do. Food and drink are often the highlight of—if not the reason for—many getaways.....or at least my getaways. I love traveling and experiencing the culture of that city. I get lost in it really and then it's so nice to recreate things from that special journey when you return home.

If you have never had a Banana Fosters at Brennan's, I suggest adding this to your bucket list as soon as possible. In the early 1950s New Orleans was the major port of entry for bananas shipped from Central and South America. Owen Brennan, owner of Brennan's Restaurant, challenged his chef, Paul Blange, to include bananas in a new dessert. It was Owen's way of promoting the imported fruit. At the same time, Holiday Magazine asked Owen to provide a new and different recipe to include in an article on the restaurant. And so was born Bananas Foster, a decadent dessert named for Owen's friend, Richard Foster, a local civic and business leader. I am not sure my taste buds have ever been so satisfied in my whole life.

Truth be told too, I am planning a party in October for my fellow blogger friend Andi of Oui We Girl to celebrate her 2nd book coming out in a few weeks. Her first book was fully dedicated to New Orleans Style. She will be visiting me here in Tulsa along with her love who will be stopping here on his tour so we have so much planned including the show, some photo shoots, and a fabulous event in her honor where she can talk about the travels that inspired the book. I am so excited for her to finally be in my town!

I love hosting the perfect events and details matter. Since Andi is a New Orleans girl at heart, (she lived there before moving to Nashville recently) I plan on making my Boozy Bananas Foster Milkshakes for our guests along with some beignets and I might even do a Bacardi Superior Rum Hurricane Punch because it's so delicious and easy to prepare.

But in the meantime, I can perfect my boozy milkshake recipe and make sure it's just perfection for the book event. So local loves...stay tuned for more info on this.

Lin and I always try to have a bottle of Bacardi Superior on hand. I mean as adults I think it's a requirement you have a good bar stocked for guests and this our favorite rum because it's so versatile. It's perfect for punches, and so many different spirits. It's the perfect rum. I also love the 750ml size. They fit nicely in my custom liquor cabinet where the the larger size doesn't.
