This Jewelry Line Is On All Our Holiday Wishlist's...// MGG Studio
I have become such a minimalist this year when it came to accessorizing. So it was just a perfect day when MGG Studio entered my world. Two simple beautiful rings caught my eye on their Instagram and now they are happily mine! Knowing that each piece is hand crafted from start to finish using all ethically sourced materials, in their small studio in Northern California’s Bay Area, well— my accessorizing philosophy looks a little different now: I’ve gone from being a jewelry minimalist, to a jewelry purist.
With the holidays fast approaching, you should definitely get a peek at MGG Studio’s beautiful collections in time for cocktail party season. A balance of simplicity and luxury, the mixed metal pieces pair perfectly with just about any look, and are perfect for gifting yourself and others (best stocking stuffer ever?) There is The Vessel 01 Collection which was inspired by vessels throughout the ages from the amporae of ancient Greece to the modern ceramics of today. Oh-Em-geee….those VASO Curvy Post Earrings make me want to get my ears pierced. There is also The Petra Collection which was inspired by rock formations worn smooth by wind and water, PETRA features shapes that are simultaneously strong and supple. This is the collection my Piedra Ring and Moro Ring are from. And they definitely scream strong yet supple. I can never get enough stack rings, and these two stack so beautifully!!! (as you can see from the pics below) It’s such a fun way to customize your look, and an easy gift for adding on to your existing wedding stack even! I would love to add the DEDO Band to my stack personally!!!
They also look good as stand alone pieces too though if you prefer an unstacked situation!

Be sure to check out The La Femme Collection. This collection was inspired by modernist sculpture and the curves of the female form! The one piece that really pulls me in is the THEA necklace! The Hellenic Collection is inspired by the goddess of Greek mythology and features winged arcs and curved forms in recycled bronze and recycled sterling silver. The Details Collection is dreamy AF and features modern geometry meets minimalism! The pieces are just gorgeous for everyday wear! I need all of it! The final collection to ohhhh and ahhhh over is The Celestial Collection. This is the first capsule collection of fine jewelry for MGG Studio and it features petite geometric shapes in recycled 14K yellow or rose gold and each piece is sprinkled with a constellation of conflict-free black diamonds. It is drop dead gorgeous and I sure hope Santa is reading this!!
Marja, the designer and maker behind MGG Studio was a former psychologist who now wields a jeweler’s torch! She draws her inspiration from sources as diverse as modernist sculpture and the curves of the female form.
“I’m Marja (rhymes with aria), the designer and maker behind MGG Studio. Once upon a time I was convinced I was going to become an academic, but the siren song of the jewelry studio was just too strong. After dabbling in jewelry (and just about every other medium) when I was younger, I picked it back up while I was pursuing my Ph.D. as a way of avoiding working on my dissertation. Once I got my hands on a torch the rest was history: after I finished my doctoral degree I found I couldn’t stay away, and now I spend my hours in the jewelry studio rather than the lab.
I draw my inspiration from sources as diverse as modernist sculpture and the curves of the female form. As a metalsmith, it’s important to me to pair these bold, sculptural designs with everyday ease, so I craft each of my modern, minimal pieces to feel as good as it looks. All of my jewelry is handmade by me and my assistants in my small studio. I’m proud to support other American small businesses and craftspeople by working in partnership with independent casting houses and my local stonesetters. I also believe that good design should go hand in hand with sustainability, so I make efforts to use reclaimed and fair-mined metals well as ethically-sourced diamonds in my handmade jewelry.
When I’m not wielding a torch or knee deep in carving wax, you’ll find me hiking with my family, accumulating even more houseplants, and dancing at my local hip hop studio.”
