Two Smoothie Recipes That Taste Like Pie Featuring Dannon® Oikos®
This post is sponsored by Dannon® Oikos® Traditional Greek Yogurt but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.
Whether it’s spring, summer, winter or fall, pie is always in season in my opinion. Fresh fruit combined with a light, flakey crust, what’s not to love? Pie is definitely my weakness in life. Okay pie and cookies.
But if you are like me and trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle, refined sugar and white flour (which can be found in most traditional pies) are on the "no-no list." Plus I am the world's most terrible baker.
So today I know you will be excited fellow sweet tooth lovers because I have gone ahead and created two smoothie recipes that have all the delicious flavor of two of my favorite pies, but none of the refined sugar. These two recipes are also full of vitamins, minerals, protein (omg yes to protein-counting macros right now and I am finding that my body needs so much more protein but I can only eat so much dang animal protein) and fiber — and the best part? You can have them first thing in the morning without an ounce of guilt! Plus when you prioritize a balanced breakfast that includes high-quality protein, you establish a good foundation to continue making healthy food choices throughout the day. So when the afternoon rolls around, you’re more likely to reach for nutrient-dense, high-protein snacks to help you stay on track with a healthy diet.
So how do you feel about Lemon Meringue and Key Lime for brekkie??!
I recently discovered Dannon® Oikos® Traditional Greek Yogurt at my local Walmart neighborhood market! The flavors are so unique and delicious and each 5.3 oz. serving has 150 calories and 11 g of high-quality protein. Oikos yogurt also has 3 g saturated fat per 5.3 oz. which is just as important when you are counting macros like me. Protein is known to be one of the most satiating1nutrients, and is associated with feelings of fullness. High-quality proteins, like milk protein, can help promote weight maintenance and blood glucose control.2. Proteins are also indispensable in helping support and maintain muscle structure and growth. So ladies--do not fear protein. Even if you are a vegetarian or vegan, you should be getting your protein from other sources and this yogurt would be perfect for you!
I know you might be wondering what makes Greek yogurt different than regular yogurt. Greek yogurt is made using a traditional straining method that removes some of the whey (liquid) from the yogurt. Greek yogurt has 2 times the protein vs regular low-fat yogurt.1 Dairy protein contains all 9 essential amino acids the human body can’t produce on its own. Amino acids are building blocks that we need to create our own proteins. In addition to protein, Dannon Oikos Greek Nonfat Yogurt can provide additional nutritional benefits like less lactose, bone strength, and live and active cultures that are good for your gut health.
Such a win win!! I am just loving incorporating Dannon® Oikos® Traditional Greek Yogurt into my daily breakfast smoothie routine. Lin and Zoë love the smoothies too and feel like they are indulging in some desert.
So let's talk recipes because I know that is why you are here in the first place!!
I love tart desserts with lemon or lime especially during the summer! But I look forward to trying some other flavors from Dannon® Oikos® Traditional Greek Yogurt like banana cream and toasted coconut just to name a few. The raspberry sounds delightful too and so refreshing.
