Creating Meals With Vermicular Part 2// Perfect Rice

I shared in early November that I had been cooking up a storm with the most beautiful Musui from Vermicular. I am 100 percent in love with this Japanese cookware. And the two recipes I have made so far with their recipe book have been spot on!! They were so easy to create and so so delicious!!! You can find all the details of all three of those posts here.

And I still have been cooking up a storm with my Musui and have just loved it so much that I now have added the Vermicular Kamado into the mix. It has been so fun to cook again and provide delicious nutritional recipes for my sweet Lin. The Kamado delivers three-dimensional heating and precision heat control at the touch of a button. High performance induction coils with a surrounding heater provides even heat distribution, simulating the engulfing flames of traditional Japanese kamado stoves.

The Kamado collaborates with the Musui.

Inspired by the seminal stove of Japanese kitchens past, the Kamado collaborates with the Musui to ensure the full flavor profile of each ingredient is allowed to bloom. With its powerful and precise heating technology, it far exceeds the performance of traditional electrical and gas stove tops, emboldening cooks in a whole new way.

Precise Control: Paired with the Musui unlocks the full range of Vermicular cooking techniques, from precision cooking and sous-vide to perfect rice. Four heat settings and adjustable temperature control from 90-200°F ensures consistent results.

Through 80 years of craft and a deep appreciation for the natural exquisiteness of ingredients, Vermicular is elevating home cooking into an art-form in which chefs of all levels can delight in.

Every design detail in our products reflects one main goal: to simply and elegantly enhance your everyday. Their aesthetic reflects a clean design philosophy that strives to balance a wide variety of functions with a form rooted in the beauty of simplicity.

From the start

Since 1936, the Hijikata family’s foundry has been renowned for its ability to cast and machine iron with extreme accuracy. However, when the industrial momentum of the mid-20th century came to a close, the Aichi Dobby foundry’s business slowed significantly.

Two brothers, one shared passion

Enter the Hijikata brothers—the heirs to the Aichi Dobby foundry, who repurposed its cast iron mastery with an aspiration to create cookware that would inspire chefs of all levels. After three years of rigorous trials, Vermicular was born. It quickly became the centerpiece of Japanese kitchens, creating community around the joy of cooking at home.

Craftsmanship that spans generations

Instilling a new purpose with Aichi Dobby’s time honored expertise, Vermicular engineers cookware that lasts a lifetime, for families to enjoy and pass down—inspiring a love of cooking for the next generation to come.

Health at the forefront

At Vermicular, creating cookware that seals in the most nutritious properties of an ingredient is incredibly important. This focus on health extends beyond cooking and to the actual design of the cookware. All Vermicular cookware is cadmium and lead-free, so you can enjoy it daily without worry.

Built on simplicity

Putting a great emphasis on simplicity is the foundation of washoku, Japanese cuisine. Vermicular honors this simplicity through its products, but more importantly through the ethos we are built on. Every dimple, handle, and colorway is designed to enable love and friendship to flourish over an impeccable meal.

MAKING THE PERFECT RICE

Rice can be such a difficult task….! It has been hard to get it just right until now!!!

Make divine rice in a few simple steps

Select the type of rice, desired rice finish and amount of rice you wish to cook. Then, set the completion time and press [START] to begin.*

Note: 1 rice cup equals 180ml and is different from 1 US cup (240ml).

Wrap and freeze leftover rice to best maintain flavor and texture

To ensure rice achieves its impeccable taste and texture, the Musui–Kamado does not have a keep warm function. To maintain flavor and texture, you can wrap leftover rice in plastic wrap while the rice is still warm and freeze it. Use a microwave or steamer to reheat the leftovers.

Adjust the amount setting on the Kamado when adding ingredients for mixed rice

Increase 1 rice cup for every 330 g (11.6 oz) of additional ingredients when cooking mixed rice. Immediately start rice cooking once you add in seasoning.

The default cooking time for white rice is 60 minutes

30 minutes of soaking time and 30 minutes of actual cooking time for best results. You can either cut down or eliminate soaking time if you are in a rush.

The detailed instructions on how to operate [RICE COOKING] mode is included in the cookbook and instruction manual
