Francophile Gift Guide 2020

Happy Friday my darlings! This is the first of my 7 part gift guide series that I will be launching the next few weeks per your request. My usual holiday gift guide space is usually contracted to one business but 2020 had different plans for me! But this is exciting and I am so excited to have worked on these for you!!!!!

All of this s'il vous please!!!

Found you some beautiful gift ideas sure to please every self-proclaimed bon vivant and beret enthusiast on your Christmas list. Hello Emily in Paris lovers!! Francophile or not, though, who wouldn't enjoy receiving any one of these precious items?!!!!!

You don’t have to live in France to love France. A Francophile is just someone who admires France. Many of my absolute favorite products are French or exude qualities of the French lifestyle. Here are a handful of my favorites this season with many of these items being on my personal wish list!!!!

  1. SAC à BAGUETTE-  Fresh market tote designed for the pedestrian lifestyle, Sac à Baguette provides an effortless mode for transporting groceries or other goods, and thanks to its detachable Baguette Quiver, cylindrical items as well.

Designer Marybeth Shaw created Sac à Baguette after watching Parisians break their baguettes in half in order to fit them down inside their reusable shopping bags. She brought the idea back with her to the States (where the bags are made), and added important details like a removable liner, water resistant cotton canvas exterior and essential zippered pockets.

  2. FRANCE SHAPED CUTTING BOARD- AHeirloom’s France shaped cutting board is made from a 100% rapidly renewable bamboo plywood, which can be personalized or engraved. It’s a unique and highly-personalized gift that can commemorate a special time and place. Each cutting board is made to order, and includes a HEART, HOUSE, or STAR on the city or place of your choice.

The France board is approximately: 14⅛ x 13⅛ inches and ¾ of an inch thick.

  3. BLACK CROCO AIMÉE BAG- Every francophile needs a Fauvette embossed croco cowhide leather bag with golden twisted rings in my opinion. All Fauvette Paris creations are handcrafted in their workshop in Paris. Each product is unique and may have slight roughness as well as small differences in appearance and color from one model to another, leather being a natural material which will age over time! This bag is exquisite!

  4. THE ART OF LEATHER GIFT SET- L’Artisan Parfumeur has imagined a collection which reflects the brand’s artisanal values in order to pay tribute to perfumery steeped in tradition, history and materials. It was at the tannery in Grasse in the XIIth century that essences were developed to scent leather gloves. Glove makers developed their expertise in perfumery, reinventing nature through the extraction of delicate aromas and paved the way for French perfumery in all of its glory. Chestnut Brown is an elegant colour that highlights leather as a noble material. This set hosts a combination of three iconic fragrances: Histoire d’Orangers, Mûre et Musc Extrême and Passage d’Enfer. Oui! Oui!

  5. Merde Il Pleut Collapsible Umbrella- This cheeky MERDE IL PLEUT (shit it’s raining) umbrella is guaranteed to help brighten a rainy day. It’s also built to endure the elements.

  6. Paris Music Box- Elegantly designed musical box features the famous and iconic Eiffel tower, and a magnetic car circling around while the music is playing. This cute Eiffel Tower musical box is approximately measured: 5.8"x4.2"x4.2". CRAFTED, LIGHTWEIGHT AND DURABLE - Made from quality wood, this box is lightweight and portable to be placed as a decorative piece yet a fully functional nice little musical box. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen and it is so affordable!!!

  7. Ma Vie A Paris- Ma Vie a Paris is a city guide unlike any other. Curated by the cofounders of beloved Parisian candle and ceramics maker Astier de Villate, this book is filled with the authors’ personal favorite spots in the City of Light. Arranged alphabetically, you’ll find all the typical recommendations, like hotels, restaurants, museums, cafes and bars. But you’ll also discover more unexpected, off-the-radar suggestions — the city’s best bowling alley, tattoo parlor, rose garden and magic shop; where to catch a puppet show or a 19th century-style home orchestra performance; and who to call when you find yourself in need of a detective, a locksmith or a taxi-driving knife sharpener. Each location is captured in a brief yet clever description, complete with an address and contact information. These descriptions are interspersed with color photographs of select locations and followed by hand drawn maps of each quarter, noting where each listed spot can be found. Also included in this boxed set is Ma Vie Aux Puces — a handy guide to shopping the sprawling Saint-Ouen Flea Market. Both books are typeset on gilt-edged pages using a mid-20th century Linotype machine — a pretty, minimal design that allows any visitor to blend right in with the locals. Perfect for tourists and lifetime residents alike, Ma Vie a Paris is a must-have for anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind way to experience Paris.

  10. Crème Suisse Hand Cream- This nourishing hand cream from ABC HOME instantly absorbs into dry skin without leaving an oily residue. Fortified with organic sunflower and jojoba oil, lemon balm, and masterwort grown in Switzerland’s Canton of Valais, the luscious, therapeutic formula hydrates and heals your hands. Renowned for its handmade porcelain, Parisian atelier Astier de Villatte reinterprets the traditions of 18th century France for modern times with extraordinary skill.

  11. La Palette Les 4 Rouje Poudre- Rouje's latest innovation: four shades with a powdery and light texture, to be applied on the lips, cheekbones and eyelids. The finish is graphic, ultra matte - ideal for achieving the iconic powdery blur effect of Jeanne Damas. To discover in a new pink gold case, to take everywhere. I am obsessed with this!

  12. France-Àmerique Magazine Subscription- Founded in 1943 by French exiles in New York, France-Amérique is the only bilingual French-English publication in the United States.

Every month, the France-Amérique print magazine offers a compilation of portraits, reports, essays, and interviews to inspire thought and debate, combined with an elegant design and high-quality images. The publication analyzes French life and art de vivre, and offers a unique connection to the French cultural scene in the United States. Thanks to its bilingual format, France-Amérique attracts students of French and English who use the magazine to improve their written comprehension in both languages.

  13. French Love Poems- Celebrate the language of love and its endlessly romantic poets with French Love Poems. This pocket-sized collection features thirty-three of the most passionate verses ever penned in la belle langue. From 16th-century sonnets to the piercing lyricism of the Decadent era to dreamy Surrealist compositions, you’ll find works from the likes of Charles Baudelaire, Louise Labé, Claude Cahun and many more, all presented in their original French. Each poem is also accompanied by an English version, translated by some of the language’s luminaries, including Ezra Pound, Denise Levertov and William Carlos Williams, to name a few. Filled with page after page of expressions of sensual devotion and erotic lust, this sweet little anthology would make the perfect gift for the one you love.

  14. MANTES-LA-JOLIE CANDLE- Bright citrus notes of Mentha citrata, crunchy green-stem notes with fragrant accents, and the instant freshness of eucalyptus recreate a display of fresh herbs transporting you to a village market. Handmade in the south of France using soy oil, plant ingredients and beeswax. Free of paraffin, petro-chemical by products and GMOs. The glass is hand blown in Tuscany - each one is unique. The labels and packaging are printed by Monsieur Huin, the last hand-typesetter in France.

  15. COPPER-PLATED EIFFEL TOWER COOKIE CUTTER WITH HANDLE- This romantic and iconic Eiffel Tower cookie cutter is great for making decorated cookies and other treats. This exclusive copper-plated stainless steel cookie cutter makes a great gift and has a handle that makes it extra-special and easier to use. 16. Sequined Billy Beret- Made from a sublime fabric of multicolored sequins, the Billy Beret takes up the codes of the Subra beret due to its large diameter. Billy lights up and stands out as an exceptional accessory highlighting all the know-how of Maison Laulhère. Have fun stroking the sequins to change the colors to your liking. The Billy Beret has the following characteristics: The headband in leather, enhanced with an Electric blue border and its black “bouffette”. The midnight blue satin headdress that lines the interior is adorned with a superb embroidered crest incorporating the heraldic codes of the old traditional crests and proudly displaying the colors of the Maison Laulhère, Sulfur yellow, Candy pink and Electric blue.
